Don't Trust Mirrors
Don’t Trust Mirrors marks one of the most transformative chapters in the career of New York–based composer and producer Kelly Moran. Originally conceived in the aftermath of her Warp Records debut Ultraviolet, the album began life as a more rhythm-driven project inspired by late nights on the dancefloor. But personal upheaval and the sudden halt of touring during the pandemic reshaped its direction, sending Moran down a different creative path.
Following the release of Moves in the Field in 2024 — praised by The New York Times as “softhearted but steel-skinned” — Moran returns to the material she once set aside, reworking it into something deeper and more introspective. Don’t Trust Mirrors explores themes of distortion, reflection, and the fragile process of rebuilding the self, where clarity is hard-won and identity feels fluid.
Across its ten tracks, the album shimmers with layered textures, fractured rhythms and moments of quiet intensity, drawing the listener into an immersive, inward-looking sound world. Featuring a guest appearance from Warp labelmate Bibio, Don’t Trust Mirrors feels both delicate and resolute — an album about refocusing, self-reconnection and learning not to trust every reflection you see.
Pressed on black vinyl and housed in a printed inner sleeve with a 3mm spine jacket, this release captures Kelly Moran at her most reflective and assured.
